Mothers and Daughters Club Assisting Philanthropies (MADCAPS) 60th benefit show “Back to School Days at MADCAPS High” will return to Point Loma Nazarene University’s Brown Chapel Theater, Thursday, March 10 at 6 p.m. and Friday, March 11 at 7 p.m. Inviting guests to relive high school memories, the show features the MADCAPS girls taking an energetic and uplifting musical journey through high school life. The annual musical extravaganza is MADCAPS signature fundraising event to provide financial support to dozens of local charities.

“We are thrilled to be back with our 60th show after being on hold for the past two years due to COVID-19. We are proud to showcase the talents of our members while celebrating the impact we have on our community since 1960,” said Judy Parker, president, MADCAPS.  “We invite the community to attend our uplifting performance and opportunity to support our organization as we continue to raise much needed funds for local nonprofits.”

MADCAPS thanks generous sponsors Ed and Kathy Brown, Title Sponsors and show sponsors the Aylsworth & Brennan Families, the MADCAPS Class of 2022, Chef’s Life, The Slakoff Family, Tommi and Bob Adelizzi, and The Connolly Family. The underwriting of major production costs, proceeds from ticket and advertising sales, and the donated time and energy of the girls and their families and friends, make it possible to give to local San Diego nonprofits.

MADCAPS was established in 1960 when a group of 27 mothers came together with the common goal of creating a philanthropic organization alongside their daughters. On September 17, 1960, MADCAPS made its debut at a tea for 50 charter members and their daughters. The organization is comprised of over 200 mothers and their daughters in seventh through twelfth grade who reside in the neighborhoods of Point Loma, Ocean Beach, Mission Hills and Hillcrest. In addition to the over 8,000 hours of community service volunteered by the girls each year, MADCAPS presents an annual high-energy music and dance benefit show to raise additional funds for local charities.

Since its inception, MADCAPS has raised over $1,270,000 for local charities and performed thousands of hours of volunteer service to nonprofit organizations throughout the San Diego community. Organizations that have benefited from MADCAPS philanthropy include Father Joe’s Villages, YMCA Becky’s House, UCSD Bannister Family House, Rady Children’s Hospital, Autism Tree Project Foundation, Therapeutic Recreation Services, San Diego Humane Society, Habitat for Humanity, and San Diego River Park Foundation. MADCAPS also volunteer their time at the yearly Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer 3-Day Walk. For more information about MADCAPS visit www.sdmadcaps.org.

Tickets can be purchased with prices ranging from $20 to $40. Sponsorships are also available. To purchase tickets or more information about sponsoring the benefit show visit www.sdmadcaps.org. COVID-19 requirements are also included on website.
