A cherished tradition returns as the San Diego Civic Youth Ballet’s (SDCYB) 13th Annual “Fairy Tales in the Park” brings magic through dance to the Casa del Prado in Balboa Park from noon to 4 p.m.,Saturday and Sunday, August 14 and 15. On both dates, SDCYB will be activating both courtyards of the building and filling them with fairy tales, festivities and family fun.  Next to the theater, we will be presenting ballet excerpts on an outdoor stage every twenty minutes from favorites such as “Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs,” “Beauty and the Beast,” “Cinderella” and “Swan Lake.”

Simultaneously, SDCYB will be hosting an interactive Fairy Tale Village in the adjoining courtyard, which will once again be sustainability-themed, and will feature a handful of crafts, activities, concessions, meet-and-greets, and information booths.

To participate in this year’s unique “Fairy Tales in the Park” experience, all tickets are $10, and include seating for all of the short ballet performances throughout the day, and also activities in the Village. As always, all proceeds from “Fairy Tales in the Park” will benefit SDCYB’s Scholarship Fund.

On the early evening of Saturday, August 14th from 5 p.m. to 7 p,m., outdoors in Balboa Park’s beautiful Casa del Prado following our 13th Annual “Fairy Tales in the Park”, SDCYB will be hosting the 75th Celebration, a chance to gather and reflect on not only our legacy, but what lies ahead in the next chapter.

As an adults-only fundraiser, each ticket is $75 and includes hors d’oeuvres and drinks, ballet performances and alumni testimonials, access to auction items, the chance to be the first to celebrate as the County of San Diego declares that day “San Diego Civic Youth Ballet Day,” and further opportunities to help ensure that our historic ballet school will continue to be a leader in arts education for 75 more years – and beyond.
