Local Organization Supporting Kids with Cancer is a Finalist to Receive a New Van from Toyota

| June 26, 2012 | 0 Comments

Toyota is giving away 100 cars to charities nationwide and San Diego’s very own, Emilio Nares Foundation, is a finalist! All you have to do is vote for the Emilio Nares Foundation (ENF) to receive a new van in the 100 Cars For Good program on Wednesday, June 27th, at www.100CarsForGood.com

ENF’s flagship program, Ride With Emilio, is a transportation program for low-income, underprivileged families whose child is battling cancer and we currently only have 2 vans in San Diego and 2 vans in Orange County. Due to a high demand, local families are in need of a ride to their child’s medical appointments and ENF needs a new mobility van effectively transport the increased number of families. NOTE: ENF already picked out Toyota’s new mobility van.

Nationally recognized by President Barack Obama and the US Surgeon’s General, “Ride with Emilio” is serves over 6,000 patients and their families in San Diego and Orange County. “Ride with Emilio,” provides door-to-door transportation services, taking kids with cancer, and their families, to their chemotherapy, radiation, and/or any other medical related appointment.

“Cancer shows no discrimination and it is imperative that underprivileged families have access to their medical appointments. Families using public transportation were taking up to seven hours to reach the hospital while exposing their immune-compromised children to an unsafe atmosphere, said Richard Nares, Executive Director, of the Emilio Nares Foundation. “Please vote for the Emilio Nares Foundation so we can receive a new mobility van to successfully transport more underprivileged families and their kids with cancer.”
