Annual Charity Campaign Benefits Easter Seals and Special Olympics

Customers of Vons have helped raise considerable funds for various causes.

Safeway Inc., operator of Vons grocery stores, held a month-long charitable fundraising campaign in support of people with disabilities in April. At 277 grocery stores throughout Southern California customers had the option at every check-out counter of making a contribution to Easter Seals and Special Olympics. This year’s effort raised more than $1.4 million for local disability services. As a company, Safeway raised $7.7 million for Easter Seals and Special Olympics affiliates nationwide.

“Vons is a proud employer of many associates with disabilities and we want to ensure the good work of Easter Seals and Special Olympics continues in this challenging economy,” says Lori Raya, president of Vons. “We also know that both charities rank among the most-efficient at serving people with disabilities. We’re proud to support their efforts in our community.”
