Positive Movement Foundation to Host 3rd Annual Cocktails for a Cause
The Positive Movement Foundation, a local non-profit committed to supporting and empowering underserved and at-risk children and youth backed by Dan Fulkerson, Channel 933’s Geena the Latina, Alex Soria-Rojas, Hailey Waitt, Omid Sabet, Erick Diaz, Evan Tando and Ivy McNeil, is thrilled to announce their 3rd Annual Cocktails for a Cause: A Not So Silent Night will take place from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m., Saturday, December 2, with an exclusive hour for VIP guests from 4 p.m. to 5 p.m., at the La Jolla Estate of Joan Waitt. After last year’s incredible success, the holiday event of the season will include craft cocktails, delectable bites, live entertainment, a live and silent auction, and more special surprises. General admission tickets start at $159 and VIP tickets begin at $399.
“Over the last two years we have been able to raise $500,000 with our Cocktails for a Cause event,” said Omid Sabet, president and founder of the Positive Movement Foundation. “We cannot begin to explain how much the funding has helped make a difference in the schools we have been partnering with, including Bell Middle School and Harley E. Knox Middle School. This year we are looking to raise over $500,000 during our event, which will allow us to support our expansion to our newest schools Lemon Grove Academy and Willow Elementary for a minimum of 2 years each and enhance our existing initiatives at all schools.”
Since its inception, the Positive Movement Foundation has implemented both teacher and student programs at Bell Middle School and Harley E. Knox Middle School. The programs implemented are long-term programs that create a lasting and meaningful positive impact. Some of the programs include CPR and basic first aid training, certification to garden clubs, emotional therapy training using service animals and positive reinforcement programs like student of the month recognitions and teacher/student catered lunches. Additional emphasis on emotional intelligence is created during the school’s second year, a subject often neglected in our current educational process, but crucial to the student’s empowerment and to making positive movement towards helping them achieving the life of their dreams.
Hosted at Joan Waitt’s bluff-top estate with breathtaking views of the La Jolla coastline, this holiday celebration promises to be one to remember as guests come together to support an incredible cause and give back to local underserved and at-risk youth.
