Pacific Records artist Eric Sage debuted “Rise Up San Diego,” the official new anthem of the San Diego Gulls, at the team’s home opener on October 18. The high-energy rock track is now played at every home game, making it the newest rallying song for fans.

Eric Sage is a multi-talented artist, musician, actor and motivational author.

Sage, a San Diego-based country-rock singer, multi-instrumentalist, and former world-ranked tennis player, has toured internationally and recorded with some of the biggest names in music. His collaborators include Slash of Guns N’ Roses, The Beach Boys, Vince Neil of Mötley Crüe, and the Bay City Rollers, where he served as lead singer. His single “Canadian Beer” spent 21 weeks on the Canadian charts, peaking at No. 15.

“I wanted to create a song that feels like San Diego – powerful, loud, proud – a city ready to rise up together,” Sage said. “As a hockey fan, there’s nothing like the energy in the arena when the crowd is behind the team. This song was written for that moment.”

Offstage, Sage has appeared in TV and film, most famously in the 1992 classic Wayne’s World as the guitar store clerk enforcing the iconic “No Stairway to Heaven” rule. A former SDSU tennis player turned pro, Sage pursued his passion for music after a career-ending car accident at age 23. He spent the next decade studying music at night while teaching tennis to celebrities like George Clooney and Alec Baldwin during the day. His dual path eventually led him to create and star in the Tennis Channel series Tennis Like a Rockstar, where he blended his two worlds: music and sports.

“Rise Up San Diego” blends the spirit of classic stadium rock with a message rooted in city pride and team energy. The track was recorded at The Music Company, a San Diego nonprofit studio, further supporting the local music scene. The anthem also marks the 10-year partnership between Pacific Records and the Gulls, an ongoing effort to spotlight San Diego musicians on a professional sports stage.

Blending stadium-ready rock with heartfelt lyrics, the anthem captures the fighting spirit, pride, and unity of San Diego fans everywhere. Known for his magnetic live performances and three-octave range, Sage recently released his third solo album, Kalifonia Kowboy— recorded in Nashville and Los Angeles — featuring a dynamic mix of country-rock anthems, radio-friendly hooks, and soulful ballads.

His motivational book, also titled “Tennis Like a Rockstar – One Through 10 System,” inspires readers to live passionately and never give up on their dreams. He is also an actor and model and has worked in films, TV, and commercials.

From stadiums and festivals to headlining cruise ships and concert halls, Sage continues to electrify audiences worldwide with his powerful voice, contagious energy, authentic performances, and unstoppable spirit. A true rockstar on and off the stage.
