Giovana to Perform National Anthem at San Diego Sockers Game

San Diego, Calif., December 10, 2012 [Press Release] – Talented teen singer/songwriter Giovana will perform the National Anthem on Saturday, December 15, 2012, as the San Diego Sockers prepare to contend for their 44th straight win, the longest in U.S. professional sports history. The game will kick off at 7:05 p.m. at the Valley View Casino Center, formerly the San Diego Sports Arena.


Giovana recently made here second appearance on the Sam’s Diego Show, broadcast in Alpine, Calif., on KRLY-LP 107.9 FM and internationally on my1079.com. Host Sam “Diego” Mejia, San Diego’s unofficial “Goodwill Ambassador” for East County, invited her back for a repeat performance following her visit on Thursday, November 8.


“I had a lot of fun and it was great meeting Sam and the others,” said Giovana after her first appearance. “They are great people and the place was full of good vibes. Everyone was so welcoming. It was my first time being on the radio, but I’m sure it won’t be my last.” 

The San Diego Sockers are the winningest team in all of professional U.S. sports, having surpassed the previous record holder, Sioux Falls Storm of United Indoor Football, on November 24, 2012. The team also boasts streaks of 30 consecutive regular season wins and 18 straight road victories.


“I am extremely excited about the opportunity,” said Giovana, who is a fan of soccer as well as basketball, baseball and football. “It is an honor to sing the National Anthem for the San Diego Sockers at the Valley View Casino Center. They are a great team and San Diego should be proud to have them. It is my first time singing the national anthem in an event such as this one, and I couldn’t be happier to do it here.


During the game Giovana’s newly-release EP, Prince of Paranoia, will be available at the San Diego Sockers booth in the concourse. Fans are encouraged to come by and meet Giovana, sign up for her fan club and get an autographed EP for their very own.
