Sharp Rees-Stealy Opens State-of-the-Art “Green” Downtown Medical Center
Sharp Rees-Stealy Downtown opened its first “green” medical center. Doctors and services from the Sharp Rees-Stealy Downtown Fourth Avenue location moved to the beautiful, new 66,365-square-foot medical office building across the street at 300 Fir Street, San Diego, CA 92101.
The multi-specialty medical center offers a vast range of services to patients. The first floor of the pedestrian-friendly building opens onto Fir Street and features the pharmacy, optical shop, optometry and ophthalmology, physical therapy and allergy and immunology. The first floor also includes a wall of honor recognizes the history of Sharp Rees-Stealy, a donor wall lists the names of individuals who have made generous donations to the Sharp HealthCare Foundation in support of the new downtown medical center and display niche of historical artifacts found during excavation. The second floor opens onto Grape Street and houses the lab, occupational medicine, radiology and urgent care. The third floor is home to internal medicine, family medicine and specialty practices including podiatry and family medicine, which are new additions for this medical center.
The building was designed to be a quiet space that reflects Sharp Rees-Stealy’s dedication to health and wellbeing. Its unique healing environment design — influenced by the126-year-old Moreton Bay Fig Tree — reflects the restorative properties of nature. The green elements include energy savings, water efficiency, CO2 emissions reduction, improved indoor environmental quality and stewardship of resources. Plus, the 300-space parking structure has reserved parking for electric vehicles and charging stations.
