Start Comic-Con With A Laugh at House of Blues with Mark Christopher Lawrence

San Diego, CA – Comic-Con 2012 begins on Thursday, July 12, but you can get a jump on the fun when Mark Christopher Lawrence (Big Mike from NBC’s Chuck) hosts the monthly “Mark Christopher Lawrence Presents” at the San Diego House of Blues as part of Comic-Con Preview Night. This month the all-ages (PG-13) comedy and music show will feature John Holt and headliner Lester Barrie. Featured musical guest will be Bob “Sully” Sullivan of The Big Biz Show and KOGO’s “The Coalition” and his band Lawdy Lawdy.

Headliner Lester Barrie has been smashing stereotypes his entire career. While he entertains crowds at night with his hilarious but clean comedy routines, on Sundays he is an ordained preacher who uses his rapport with audiences to share the Word of God. Barrie has appeared as an opening act for the likes of Ray Charles and has co-headlined with Mike Epps, John Witherspoon and Bruce Bruce. More recently he appeared on Martin Lawrence’s 1st Amendment Stand Up and has performed at Caroline’s in New York and at the Laugh Factory in both Hollywood and Long Beach.

Opening Act, John Holt is a one-time San Diego resident who has spent the last six years headlining at clubs and shows throughout the Midwest. He recently returned to Southern California and has been a regular at comedy clubs around the Southland. His act will be an excellent lead in to the night’s humor.
The event will include a fundraiser for ACT Today, an autism support organization. Audience members can have their pictures taken with the evening’s special guests, and 100% of all photo purchases will go to ACT Today to help families with children diagnosed with autism.

Mark Christopher Lawrence Presents hits the House of Blues stage on Wednesday night, July 11, with the red carpet beginning at 6:30 p.m. Sully & Lawdy Lawdy will hit the stage shortly after, with the comedy beginning at 7:00 p.m. For tickets, visit the House of Blues website or purchase at the door for $10. The House of Blues is located at 1055 Fifth Avenue in downtown San Diego.
