Petco™ Invites Pet Parents to Bring their Dogs to Petco Park 

Pooches will take over the Padres Park in the Park at the annual Dog Days of Summer!

– Come one, come all! Hundreds of slobbery, shaggy,  barking and tail-wagging dogs are welcome back to Petco Park for the Eighth  Annual “Dog Days of Summer”. It won’t be “ruff” for pet parents to enjoy  America’s favorite pastime with their furry friends as the San Diego Padres take  on the Houston Astros on Tuesday, July 17, 2012.   Petco™ is encouraging all pets and pet parents to join in on the fun. For each  dog that is admitted into the game, pet parents receive two complimentary  tickets. Gates to the event open at 4:05 p.m. and those who arrive early will  have the opportunity to participate in a pre-game “tail” gate party and an  on-field pet parade. Costumed dogs can show off their creative side as they  prance the infield for a chance to win a variety of prizes in numerous  categories. Once the game begins at 7:05 p.m., guests and their pets are invited  to cheer on the Padres from the “Park in the Park” area, which will be closed  off to all fans not participating in the “Dog Days of Summer” event.    “We are passionate about having dogs active in all aspects of our life,” said  Greg Seremetis, Vice President of Marketing for Petco. “Thanks to our  partnership with the San Diego Padres, this includes inviting hundreds of dogs  out to the ballpark year after year.”   Staying true to Petco’s “Think Adoption First” philosophy, local pet adoption  partners will be on site to educate attendees, raise awareness for pet adoption  and offer participants the chance to save a life and give a shelter pet a  forever home.   Applications are no longer being accepted. Only dogs with a valid “dog ticket”  will be allowed to attend, no walk-ups will be accepted. Dogs who were approved  to attend showed proof of current vaccinations and valid animal license.
