For one night only, 8 p.m., Thursday November 3, at Spin Nightclub, two performing arts service organizations, Actors Alliance of San Diego and contACT Arts, are coalescing efforts and presenting “once upon a time” – a benefit variety show that gives local emergent artists an opportunity to market their talent in a non-traditional venue, namely Spin Nightclub, the 10,000 sq. ft entertainment complex and presenting sponsor.

“Once upon a time” is pleased to announce the confirmed headliners for the show, beginning with the luscious ladies of Cherry Boom Boom, a one-of-a-kind rock ‘n roll a go-go burlesque show created and choreographed by San Diego savvy, Lindsley Allen. Cherry Boom Boom is known for redefining fun for live theater experiences. Lindsley Allen is widely recognized for her work as a founding member / co-artistic & associate choreographer of the Pussycat Dolls at Johnny Depps’ Viper Room, and her more recent creation of rock n roll cabaret at King King in Hollywood. Lindsley is also a master class teacher at Academy of Performing Arts San Diego.

Also headlining will be San Diego savvy Roxane Carrasco — Velma Kelly in “Chicago” on Broadway.  Other Carrasco’s  credits include the jobs of Dance Captain and Asst. Dir. for “A Chorus Line” European Tour, and International Tours of “West Side Story.”

“Once upon a time” will also feature local emergent artists in the way of dance, music, song (including opera), comedy (stand up), novelty acts and performance troupes sandwiched between audio artistry by local producing DJ’s.  Kevin Patterson, executive director of contACT Arts was responsible for acquiring the featured talent and plans to collaborate even more with LA casting agents and other industry professionals to encourage and empower San Diego’s emerging talent.

This collaborative benefit variety show was catalyzed by Actors Alliance of San Diego board member and co-producer, Marc Emmelmann. Marc, former managing director of the San Diego Performing Arts League recently shared, “Both of these dynamic performing arts service organizations will benefit greatly from this show, and the artists are extremely motivated to present and market their works too.”

Spin Nightclub is located at 2028 Hancock Street. For tickets and information, visit www.spinnightclub.com.
