Old Town San Diego’s Annual Tree Lighting Ceremony
The holiday season in Old Town San Diego began with one of its most beloved traditions—the Annual Tree Lighting Ceremony, which took place on Thursday, December 4, 2025, at 7 p.m. Residents, visitors and businesses enjoyed a festive evening filled with music, joy, and community spirit at the historic Whaley House Complex.
Presented by the Old Town San Diego Chamber of Commerce and Old Town Trolley Tours, this year’s celebration offered a magical start to the season. Guests enjoyed live performances from the Mormon Battalion Historic Site ensemble, filling the night with warm harmonies, along with the upbeat energy of the Victor Santana Trio, bringing a lively holiday flair to the plaza.

To sweeten the evening, Flor’s provided special refreshments, adding a delicious touch to the festivities. And of course, no holiday celebration would be complete without a little magic—Santa and Mrs. Claus, who made a special appearance to greet families, share holiday cheer, and take photos with guests of all ages.
