San Diego Floral Association Meeting June 19, 2012
On Tuesday, June 19, the San Diego Floral Association will hold its annual dinner meeting and program in Room 101 of Casa del Prado. The catered dinner will be at tables outside in the courtyard at 6:00 p.m. followed by the meeting and program at 7:00. Officers are elected at this annual meeting.
We will be treated to a lively and eye-catching program presented by Jeanne Irwin, an expert in the art of using fresh flowers together with accoutrements from various sources to create beautiful home decor, as well as the loveliest hats you have ever seen. She has presented, on behalf of The Star of India Auxiliary, the award-winning first prize “hat” year after year at the annual Gold Diggers Fashion Show and Luncheon. This event in support of local charities features models wearing outsized hats, designed around an annual theme. Jeanne Irwin will set your creative juices flowing and provide new ideas for decorating with the floral bounty of the summer.
Jeanne Irwin retired from the U. S. Forest Service in 1991 and served out her career as a visual information Specialist for the Technology and Development Center in San Dimas. Since retiring to San Diego, she and her husband have been active in the boating community. She has served as Commodore of the San Diego Association of Yacht Clubs and now heads the entertainment committee of the Silver Gate Yacht Club.
Her love of nature has inspired her use of fresh florals and whimsy on her hats. In addition she has been an advocate for the Friends of the Sea Otter based in Carmel.
Please join us and bring your friends for this lively meeting. Cost of the dinner is $15. Call the Floral Association office at 619-232-5762 to make a dinner reservation by June 15. You may also reserve and pay for your dinner online below. The program is free and open to all.
