4th Annual Summer Band Festival Returns to Civita Park

Kearny Mesa Concert Band and San Diego Concert Band are proud to announce the 4th annual Summer Band Festival in Civita Park in Mission Valley from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., Saturday, July 29. The Summer Band Festival is free and open to the public.

Featuring eight community bands from throughout the San Diego region, the event will present live performances of musical selections including songs from TV and film, patriotic marches, broadway showtunes, and more.

“This annual event showcases the homegrown talent of amateur musicians from throughout our region,” said Richard Almanza, musical director of Kearny Mesa Concert Band. “As the community surrounding Civita Park continues to grow, the Summer Band Festival seeks to grow with it to feature even more music from local community bands.”

The festival will take place from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the outdoor amphitheater in Civita Park in the heart of Mission Valley (Civita Boulevard and Russell Park Way). In addition to the festival, there is a weekly farmers market and a playground for kids. Light refreshments will be available for purchase.

Amphitheater seating is available on a first come, first-served basis. Patrons are encouraged to bring blankets, lawn chairs, picnic baskets, but please no glass.

Donations to Kearny Mesa Concert Band and San Diego Concert Band help to keep events like Summer Band Festival free to the public. Both bands are registered 501(c)(3) non-profit organizations largely supported by individual contributions. Sponsorships are available and donations will be accepted at the event and online at www.kearnymesaconcertband.com

The Kearny Mesa Concert Band will perform free to the public at Civita Park.
