Home Start, a local nonprofit organization dedicated to child abuse prevention and providing evidence-based family strengthening services, celebrated its annual Blue Ribbon Gala on Saturday, April 29, 2023, at The US Grant Hotel. The event raised nearly $150,000 for funding its crucial programs and assistance services. Funds raised will go towards Home Start’s services to help children, families, and individuals affected by tragedies including homelessness, domestic violence, hunger, abuse, and neglect.

Guests were transported to the Big Easy for a fun-filled New Orleans jazz-themed evening. The event featured a champagne reception, live music from local band Full Strength, a high school jazz band, incredible auction packages, and delicious food. Most importantly, the evening raised vital funds to continue serving San Diego’s most vulnerable children, families, and individuals.

“My gratitude goes out to the many sponsors, supporters, donors, and community members who helped contribute to our Blue Ribbon Gala this year,” Home Start CEO Laura Tancredi-Baese, shared. “We could not continue our mission without the amazing generosity of so many. On behalf of the many lives this funding will positively impact, I express our deep thanks.”

The evening also included powerful stories from Home Start graduates, showcasing the organization’s mission of strengthening families and communities across San Diego. Each year, the Blue Ribbon Gala takes place during National Child Abuse Prevention Month to recognize the importance of families and communities working together to prevent child abuse and neglect. Home Start’s critical programs serve children, families, and individuals affected by tragedies including homelessness, domestic violence, hunger, abuse, and trauma.

The Presenting Sponsor for the event was U.S. Bank. For more information about Home Start, please visit www.home-start.org.
