Little Italy Tree Lighting and Christmas Village
Celebrating its 25th year, the highly anticipated cozy Italian winter wonderland will take place from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m., Saturday, December 7, 2024.
What started as a modest neighborhood celebration in 1999 has blossomed into a must-attend tradition that draws locals and visitors to San Diego’s favorite downtown district. As the event has grown over the years, so has the magic. From the early days of a simple tree lighting to today’s grand production, complete with twinkling lights, towering nutcrackers, and a Christmas Village brimming with holiday makers and vendors, the Little Italy Tree Lighting and Christmas Village continues to bring the community together in spectacular fashion to have a truly buon Natale.
The evening will be centered around the 6:30 p.m. tree lighting ceremony in Piazza della Famiglia, where the joy of the season will truly come to life with both the traditional 25-foot-tall tree and Joshua Hubert’s Aurora tree. Guests can also look forward to a visit from Babbo Natale(Santa Claus) himself, live entertainment, and plenty of holiday-themed bites and sips. The Christmas Village will stretch along India Street between West Cedar and West Grape Streets, offering unique gifts, stocking stuffers, and items from local vendors, making it a perfect opportunity to shop small and support the neighborhood’s businesses.
Whether you’re rekindling old traditions or creating new ones, Little Italy’s Tree Lighting and Christmas Village is the ultimate holiday escape, celebrating the season with Italian charm, joy, and a whole lot of amore.
