National Thrift Shop Day Comes to the Gaslamp District
Shop for one-of-a-kind pieces by local artists including Chicana fashion designer, Claudia Rodríguez-Biezunski (Sew Loka) during their WNDR After Dark: Secondhand Style event from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m., Thursday, August 17 on National Thrift Shop Day at WNDR Museum, located at 422 Market Street in the Gaslamp District.
Guests will be able to shop from a selection of one-of-a-kind jean jackets all thrifted and upcycled by different local artists, along with live sewing, a DJ and spoken word poetry. Additionally, guests can purchase tickets to explore WNDR Museum’s over 20-plus immersive and interactive art exhibits making for the perfect photo opportunities to showcase their new threads.
As a Mexican-American female business owner, Rodriguez-Biezunski is breaking down barriers, blurring societal norms and proudly welcoming BIPOC and underserved communities through affordable, edgy, and upcycled handmade goods. She is known for creating one-of-a-kind wearable art inspired by her rich cultural heritage and Chicano identity.
