San Diegans are Asked to Donate Blood in Preparation for Summer Need

| June 10, 2025 | 0 Comments

With the official start of summer just weeks away, San Diego Blood Bank is offering a limited-edition Padres Summer Blood Drive T-shirt to anyone who donates blood at a San Diego Blood Bank donor center or mobile blood drive throughout the month of June, while supplies last.

Summer is always a difficult time to collect blood. Schools are on hiatus and not hosting their regular blood drives, people are often traveling or on vacation during the summer months, and blood donation is simply not top of mind.

Donations during the summer are especially important as people are more active, and the risk of accidents and trauma increases. All types are needed, especially those with O-negative and O-positive blood types.

To be eligible to donate blood, you must be at least 17 years old, weigh at least 110 pounds, and be in general good health. Eligible blood donors are encouraged to schedule an appointment at SanDiegoBloodBank.org or by calling 619-400-8251.
