St. Madeleine Sophie’s Center (SMSC), a nonprofit organization dedicated to educating and empowering individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities to realize their full potential, raised more than $46,000 from its 7th Annual “Swing with Santa” Golf Tournament, making it the most raised from this annual event to date. The tournament was held on Friday, November 6, 2020, at the Singing Hills Golf Resort Pine Glen – Par 3 Executive Course at Sycuan.

Debra Emerson, chief executive officer of SMSC, welcomes Santa (Drum Macomber) to the golf event.

All “Swing with Santa” golfers received one round of golf, lunch, and a gift bag. Additionally, golfers participated in games and prizes at select holes, an opportunity drawing, and SMSC’s first ever golf ball drop.

“I would like to thank each sponsor and every golfer that helped to make this the most successful tournament yet,” said Debra Emerson, CEO of SMSC. “In a year that has been challenging for so many, I am very happy that we will be able to provide a little holiday cheer to our wonderful students.”

The “Swing with Santa” Golf Tournament is held annually to help support SMSC’s annual Student Appreciation Holiday Celebration, scheduled for Friday, December 11 in a drive-thru format. All of the funds raised from the golf tournament goes towards providing each SMSC student with a $20 gift card.
