The Hillcrest Wind Ensemble Offers Inspirational Performance

The Hillcrest Wind Ensemble presents their spring concert “The Art Of Music” at 7 p.m., Saturday, March 31 at the state of the art theater at the Creative, Performing and Media Arts school, located at 5050 Conrad Avenue in Clairemont. Plenty of parking is available.

Under the direction of John Winkelman, the ensemble will premier the winning compositions from last year’s International Composition Contest. Winners include “Mystic Mountain” by Mark Dal Porto from the United States and “The Hero’s Journey by Judda Viitaasari from Finland. A West Coast premier of “Wisconsin Watermusic” by San Diego composer and horn virtuoso, John Lorge, will also be performed and guest conducted by the composer.

Tickets are $25 and can be purchased at The Windsmith, located at 3875 Granada Avenue in North Park and at www.sdartstix.com, or at the door. Refreshments will be offered during intermission.

There will be an encore presentation at 4 p.m., Sunday, April 15 at the Chula Vista United Methodist Church, located at 1200 East H St. in Eastlake. A free will offering will be accepted.
