Special Delivery, a free nutrition services nonprofit organization serving people with AIDS and other life-threatening illnesses such as heart disease, cancer and kidney disease in San Diego, has received a grant in the amount of $20,000 from Weingart Foundation, announced Ruth Henricks, executive director.

“We are thrilled to receive this very generous award from such a prestigious Southern California organization,” said Henricks. “This contribution will be used to help us continue our work of providing our nutritious meal delivery service and onsite food pantry to over 1,000 unduplicated men, women and children annually in 14 central San Diego neighborhoods.”

Special Delivery has served over 1.7 million meals to over 4,700 clients since its founding in 1991. Clients receive two cold meals and one hot meal daily.
