USD Basketball Teams Step Off the Court to Help Shelter Pets During Overcrowding Crisis
The University of San Diego’s men’s and women’s basketball teams stepped off the court and into the shelter to help homeless animals during San Diego Humane Society’s ongoing overcrowding crisis.
With more than 1,900 animals currently in care — including approximately 840 pets available for adoption — the Toreros volunteered their time to support animal care needs while raising awareness about the urgent need for adopters, foster families, volunteers and donors.
The men’s team volunteered their time on Saturday, July 18, followed by the women’s team on Wednesday, July 29. Student-athletes spent time prepping enrichment and meatballs for evening feedings, organizing adoption packets, folding laundry and helped showcase adoptable animals.
