Arts District Liberty Station Winding Down for the Summer Months
Although summer is winding down, the fun in the sun continues. Arts District Liberty Station is the ideal spot to enjoy these final days of summer with friends and family. With events, outdoor live music, interactive free classes, and much more, the arts and culture hub is here to help you make the most of your end of summer calendar.
To wrap up her 18-month Emergency Artist residency in Arts District, Leslye Villaseñor is showcasing a solo exhibition in Gallery 201 titled Y lo que el viento no se lleva, en la tierra queda, culminating her time in ARTS DISTRICT. In this final showcase, Villaseñor presents a series of paintings capturing concealed objects and their surrounding landscapes. Drawing inspiration from items discovered in the Otay Valley Regional Park in South San Diego, the exhibition highlights cherished possessions left behind by the families of those who perished in the park. The culminating exhibit will be on display in Gallery 201 (2820 Roosevelt Rd, 2nd Floor).
Attention all shoppers: there is a new market in town! Stop by the North Promenade on Sunday, August 18 from 12 pm to 5 pm to shop wares and art from local artists. As the latest collaboration between Good Faith and Arts District Liberty Station, the market will offer artists, small businesses, and vendors in the local community a platform to showcase and sell their goods and services to a wider audience. This collaborative initiative seeks to further their mission to provide a nurturing environment for artists to develop, express themselves, and thrive, while also fostering a secure space for learning and creativity. The Good Faith and Arts District Liberty Station Market will return to North Promenade every third Sunday of the month through September.
The Arts District Summer Music Series is back with another thrilling performance this August. In honor of World Design Capital’s first binational designation of Tijuana and San Diego, Arts District is pleased to spotlight four bands celebrating a variety of Latin American genres. This month, Nosotros will be taking center stage on Sunday, August 25. The talented group combines a myriad of rhythms – cumbia, bolero, salsa, chica – with elements of rock, jazz and beyond, creating an innovative and imaginative Latin sound that is unique, undefinable and unmistakably Nosotros. The Summer Music Series takes place from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. on the North Promenade.
