Celebrate the Rich History of San Diego’s Arts and Culture Scene at Queen Bee’s 15 Year Anniversary
Queen Bee’s Art and Cultural Center, a community space and beacon for artists in North Park, San Diego, is thrilled to be celebrating its 15th anniversary this year. At the forefront of enriching the vibrant arts and culture scene in San Diego, Queen Bee’s has served as a nurturing haven where artistry flourishes, allowing for creatives of all walks of life to come together to express their talents in a welcoming community.
Since 2008, Queen Bee’s has faced many challenges and achievements, and now, the community is invited to commemorate this anniversary milestone with a celebration at noon, Tuesday, December 12. Following the opening reception, will be a Commemorative Ceremony at 1 p.m., where speakers will be sharing the journey to Queen Bee’s success. There will be several live performances starting at 1:30 pm from local spoken word poet Rudy Francisco, singer-songwriter and guitarist Gregory Page, jazz trumpeter Gilbert Castellanos, and acclaimed singer Mercedes Moore. Following the celebration, attendees are invited to stay for the Tuesday night swing classes at 6 p.m. where dancers of all levels are welcome to participate with live music from the Zzzymzzy Quartet star. The donation-based event is open to the public and attendees must RSVP. Queen Bee’s will be taking donations to be able to continue to support the arts for years to come.
“I’m honored to have reached this milestone,” said Alma Rodriguez. “It hasn’t always been easy, but I think we’ve built up something special at Queen Bee’s. I love that it’s not only a haven for so many different art forms, but that Queen Bee’s is also a place where people can meet and mingle and just have a good time. I hope that this party shows us off at our best as we prepare for all sorts of great happenings ahead. Come celebrate with us!”
Through hosting fundraisers, art auctions, and reaching out to her own community, Queen Bee’s not only survived, but thrived throughout the years. Now, 15 years later, Alma is eager to commemorate the resilience of the establishment as well as everyone who has contributed to its prosperity. This special celebration stands as a testament to the lives touched and empowered by Queen Bee’s, as well as a hopeful glimpse into the future, showcasing how this cherished haven will continue to unite people through the love of the arts.
