Diane Powers’ Bazaar del Mundo and Casa de Pico Celebrate 40 Years

Forty years ago, Diane Powers had a vision: to create a unique shopping and dining experience in San Diego that would replicate the beautiful bazaars in Mexico that she admired. Powers’ popular Bazaar del Mundo Shops in Old Town and Casa de Pico restaurant (La Mesa’s Grossmont Center) will celebrate the anniversary in festive fashion.

Celebrating the 40th anniversary weekend on November 4 and 5, customers can enjoy fabulous fiestas at both the Bazaar del Mundo Shops and at Casa de Pico restaurant.

Guests at this special two-day Bazaar del Mundo shopping event will enjoy mariachi and folkloric dance performances throughout the day as well as opportunities to win fabulous prizes – such as a Bazaar del Mundo shopping spree, dinners for two at the Bazaar del Mundo Restaurants and other wonderful packages. Those who attend will also receive a commemorative collectible (as available).

Patrons of Casa de Pico will be treated to a 40th celebration with authentic Mexican dancing, music and culinary fare.For the occasion, the restaurant will offer appetizer-size servings of the Cheese Crisp “ its most popular item “ at the 1971 price of just $1.65 throughout the month.
