FilmCon Brings Filmmakers and Investors to San Diego
San Diego, CA – The worlds of filmmaking and investment come together for FilmCon San Diego from Thursday to Friday, July 16 through 17 at Spark Studio Soundstage. The two-day event opens Thursday with Founders Alley, a venture conference for founders, investors, and operators. Friday features a series of panels and presentations designed to help creators take the next steps to funding and production. Each day begins with registration at 9 a.m. and opening presentations at 10 a.m. and closes with after parties featuring networking and music. Spark Studio Soundstage is located at 8283 Ronson Road near Clairemont Mesa Boulevard and I-163.
Capital meets culture at Founders Alley, a curated ecosystem that bridges experiential community with strategic capital. Presentations connect high-quality founders, investors, and operators, taking advantage of the region’s high-output ecosystem. In 2024, San Diego ranked #5 among U.S. metro regions and #16 globally for venture capital, raising $5.7 billion. Panels will include topics such as crowdfunding, startup lifecycles and Reg A investments. The day will also include time for founders to pitch their companies and ideas.
The entertainment industry takes over the venue on Friday, celebrating and encouraging local production efforts in film, television, and new media. Presentations will provide new and veteran actors, directors, producers and crew with the knowledge needed to move to the next level. Panel topics will include breaking into the industry, independent filmmaking, AI in filmmaking, women in media, and more. The day will also feature film and television celebrities, screenings, and networking.
Formerly part of the XETV6 television station complex, host site Spark Studio Soundstage is designed for professional film and television production. The campus boasts 50,000 sq. ft. of available shooting space and features a 3,000 square foot, double walled soundstage. Spark Studio Soundstage has been the location of a wide range of productions, from corporate shoots to music videos and feature films.
