Keeping The Holiday Spirit Alive

| December 14, 2020 | 0 Comments

‘Tis the season to get creative, and Arts District Liberty Station is spreading holiday cheer all month long with new activities to keep everyone connected this holiday season. From festive art installations to creative holiday gifts, there is something for everyone and so much more to make this holiday season one to remember.

Immerse yourself in the holiday spirit with this virtual lineup of talented local artists and creative personalities. Most activities that were a part of this month’s Virtual First Friday will be available on YouTube later this month. Which means, you are just one click away from a creative visit. So, grab some seasonal local bites and sips from your favorite Liberty Station restaurants and get comfortable. Some of the festive highlights from this month’s activities include:

  • Solare Ristorante is giving you a taste of Italy by teaching you how to make classic Italian food and cocktails
  • San Diego Magic Shows has got the magic touch with some holiday magic and gift ideas
  • San Diego Craft Collective has some gift ideas straight from the heart with a holiday leather craft
  • Visions Art Museum will help make your gifts shine with sustainable giftwrapping
  • Josemar Gonzalez, artist with the AJA Project, will discuss the recent Installation at the Station piece, Transcending Perception
  • Imperfects founder Mike Lynch will talk about his surf, skate and footwear brand coming to Arts District Liberty Station just in time for the shopping season

Plus, check out other Arts District tenants on their platform, including:

  • Karen Jones Fine Art is showing you how to create beautiful bows for holiday decorating
  • Malashock Dance is presenting new choreographic works
  • Songbirds Music is welcoming everyone for Family Music Time

Commissioned by Liberty Station Community Association and the NTC Foundation, tenants are creating a series of festive artworks to be on display throughout Liberty Station’s North and South Promenade through Sunday, January 10.

Inspired by “Twelve Days of Christmas,” visitors can embark on a self-guided tour of the 12 installations each of which encompass themes of unity and hope, a universal homage to a year defined by communal resiliency. This experience is free and open to the public, plus, anyone who captures a photo with their favorite installation and posts to social media using #SaluteTheSeason will be automatically entered into a raffle, scoring a chance to win gift cards from Liberty Station eateries and shops, as well as a Zoom with Santa himself.

The holiday shopping season is officially upon us and showing support for your favorite small businesses has never been more important. Businesses at Arts District Liberty Station have something for everyone on your list this year, including something just for you.

  • MK Envisions Gallery has a variety of matted photography prints and fine art prints perfect for any art collector or someone looking to add a personal touch to their space
  • Point Loma Tea is the perfect way to treat yourself thanks to their signature holiday tea gift sets along with the chance to experience the artistry of tea in a virtual workshop.
  • Apricot Yarn & Supply is your go-to destination for that crafter in your life with a curated collection of yarn and supplies for knotting, crocheting, weaving and spinning
