Ron Fowler Receives Lifetime Achievement Award
Sports San Diego announced the winners of the Rising Tide Awards at its second annual Game Time Gala presented by National University at LionTree Arena on the campus of UC San Diego.
A special Lifetime Achievement Award was presented to local sports icon, Ron Fowler, honoring the significant contributions he has made and continues to make for sports and sports tourism in San Diego.
The Rising Tide Awards honor outstanding contributions by individuals and organizations in San Diego during 2024 and 2025, highlighting the powerful impact of sports events on the region’s tourism and hospitality industry.
The gala was hosted by Sports San Diego, a non-profit organization that produces the Holiday Bowl, Rady Children’s Invitational, and the California State Games, and serves as the region’s sports commission.
“We’re excited to announce our second annual winners of the Rising Tide Awards and honor Ron Fowler for his amazing contributions to our local sports industry,” said Mark Neville, CEO of Sports San Diego. “Sports events have been a pillar of the tourism industry in San Diego for decades. Even recently, San Diego has attracted some of the largest events and most iconic brands in the world including the World Surf League, World Lacrosse Championships, Manchester United, the New Zealand All Blacks, and the Breeders’ Cup to name a few.”
