San Diego Blood Bank and SeaWorld San Diego Partner to Encourage Blood Donations
San Diego Blood Bank and SeaWorld San Diego are once again partnering to gift blood donors with a frighteningly fun experience this fall at Howl-O-Scream, San Diego’s largest nighttime Halloween event offering the only full night of fear with all-new performances, thrills, speakeasies, and more scares than ever before.
Donors who give blood at any San Diego Blood Bank donation center or mobile blood drive Monday, September 1 through Tuesday, September 30 will receive a ticket to SeaWorld San Diego’s Howl-O-Scream. This year’s ticket to SeaWorld San Diego’s Howl-O-Scream unleashes a fifth year of fear that includes five haunted houses, all-new scare zones, the return of the electrifying performance of Monster Stomp on Ripper Row, all-new vile vignettes with the telling of disturbing tales, thrill coasters after dark, hidden speakeasys, and more. Howl-O-Scream begins Friday, September 12 and runs on select nights through Saturday, November 1.
SeaWorld’s generous in-kind donation of 10,000 Howl-O-Scream tickets is valued at over $950,000, making it the largest in-kind donation San Diego Blood Bank has ever received for a second year in a row.
“San Diego Blood Bank is honored to continue our valued partnership with SeaWorld San Diego in 2025, with a goal of collecting 10,000 pints of blood—enough to potentially save more than 30,000 lives,” said Doug Morton, Chief Executive Officer of San Diego Blood Bank. “SeaWorld’s generous contribution to our September 2025 blood drives will play a vital role in ensuring a stable blood supply for patients in need throughout Southern California.”
To be eligible to donate blood, you must be at least 17 years old, weigh at least 110 pounds, and be in general good health. A list of the blood drives, which will take place throughout San Diego and Orange County, along with links to appointments can be found at SanDiegoBloodBank.org/SeaWorld. Walk-ins are welcome.
