Feeling Extremely Blessed To Have A Veterinarian in My Life
Most of us will admit that our pets have helped us maintain our sanity during this past year. Lexi, my adorable Yorkie, has been with me every day. When I start to feel down, I look at her sweet face and immediately feel better. Her presence brings calm to almost every unbearable situation.
Unfortunately, Lexi isn’t without her own issues, health related. She was involved in a serious accident several years ago that almost ended her life. Consequently, she now has a heart problem that requires medication and constant monitoring.
There isn’t a day that goes by that I don’t realize how blessed I am to have Dr. Craig Kinshella in my life. I met him almost 20 years ago at VCA Hillcrest Animal Hospital. He became the veterinarian for my many animals: four cats and two dogs.
Having animals in my life has given me incredible pleasure and enjoyment. Each one of the cats and dogs has brought happiness into my life, and, ultimately, the sadness of losing them. Yet, I wouldn’t give it up for anything.
Dr. Kinshella, who constantly amazes me by his dedication to his profession, and to the many cats and dogs who he refers to as his clients, has had a difficult year dealing with the challenges of the pandemic. From personal experience, I know that he works long days and weeks, and doesn’t take time off. And, he is exposed to all kinds of potential health risks that come with his profession.
Yet, he continues to stay focused on his clients and the tasks of each day, including the uncertainty and fears felt by all of us who are a part of the “essential” workforce.
I elected to share my appreciation and gratitude because it seemed the right thing to do. Because I know that there are many long and demanding days that test his strength and perseverance. Yet, he doesn’t falter.
Some days he reminds me of the Eveready Bunny, who keeps on going.
And, I thank God he does. Because there are lots of animals that benefit from his knowledge, experience and caring attitude.
Thanks Dr. K.
