A Candle in the Wind Holiday Concert by SACRA/PROFANA
Following their sold-out October concert at the WorldBeat Cultural Center, SACRA/PROFANA returns with A Candle in the Window, a holiday concert of inspiring vocal artistry, at 7 p.m., Saturday, December 14, St. Mark’s United Methodist Church, located at 3502 Clairemont Drive. Tickets are available at sacraprofana.org.
This beautiful program celebrates the warmth, guidance, and hope symbolized by a candle shining in a window, a simple beacon that has comforted travelers, welcomed loved one’s home, and provided a sense of sanctuary through the ages.
In the spirit of the season, the concert will highlight the vital work of refugee organizations in San Diego, blending artistry, community, and social impact.
“The Holidays are about home, comfort, connection, and expectation,” says Artistic Director Juan Carlos Acosta. He added, “We often forget that woven into the Christmas narrative is a story about a couple expecting their first child, away from home, with no place to stay and no family around them. So, we pull on those themes in our music to bring light to the plight of refugees and to speak to our humanity to show charity and love during one of the darkest times of year.”
The concert will include two world premieres: one by Andrew Bearden with words by Libby Weber who were both featured performers in SACRA/PROFANA’s sold-out Rumours Un-Covered concert in October; and a second by American composer and long-time collaborator Cory Hibbs.
All tickets are available at sacraprofana.org.
