Join the Old Town San Diego businesses and residents in rekindling a cherished tradition as they present the 66th Annual Las Posadas in Old Town San Diego at 7 p.m., Friday, December 13 at the picturesque Heritage County Park, located at 2454 Heritage Park Row. The festivities begin with offering neighbors and friends a unique opportunity to immerse themselves in a time-honored celebration that echoes with centuries-old Mexican traditions and the warmth of the holiday season.
Presented in collaboration by the Old Town San Diego Chamber of Commerce, Old Town Trolley Tours, and the Mormon Battalion Historic Site, this event reverberates with community spirit and historical reverence, offering an immersive glimpse into the journey of Mary and Joseph in Bethlehem.
Join Mary and Joseph on A Historic Journey
Embark on a narrative pilgrimage alongside Joseph and Mary, as they seek shelter at different inns, represented by six strategically placed stations within the Heritage County Park. Mary, astride a donkey, will be accompanied by a heavenly ensemble of shepherds and angels, reviving the tale that has touched hearts for centuries.
At each station, attendees will be graced with engaging narrations and poignant call-and-response verses, brought to life by the passionate volunteers from the Mormon Battalion Historic Site. This interactive portrayal invites everyone to become part of a story that is deeply woven into the fabric of the season.
Engage in A Service Project that Makes a Difference
In line with the spirit of giving, the event takes a step further once again by integrating a community service project. Attendees are warmly invited to contribute non-perishable items for the local food bank at Old Town Community Church.
A Festive Conclusion with Refreshments and Bonding
Following the finale, guests are cordially invited back to the Mormon Battalion Historic Site for an evening of refreshments and camaraderie. Enjoy a captivating live music performance to uplift your spirits and foster connections. Engage in moments of joy and unity as the tunes resonate with the vibrancy of the holiday season, bringing people together in celebration and song.
